
Dr Bhavna Wal is a former journalist with 20+ years of industry experience, having worked with national media houses like Hindustan Times, The Indian Express and Press Trust of India news agency in various senior editorial and administrative capacities, namely as News Coordinator, Bureau Chief and News Editor.
Dr Wal completed her PhD from Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University, Lucknow, on child labour with special reference to Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi. Her areas of interest are human rights, child rights, environment and communication.
After transitioning from journalism to academics, Dr Wal has attempted to enrich her world of academics by focusing on active research work. She has written more than 15 research papers and book chapters, which have been published in leading international and national journals and publications. Dr Wal has also actively participated in international and national conferences where she has presented papers. She is a recipient of the Best Presenter award in an international media conference held in Colombo in May 2024. She has also represented India in some of these conferences as Country Ambassador and Sessions Chair.
Dr Wal is a Fellow Member of Eudoxia Research University, USA. She also holds the honour of being State Director, Uttar Pradesh, for the Global Forum for Sustainable Rural Development. She is also on the Editorial Board of the journal ‘International Journals on Transformation of Media, Journalism & Mass Communication. She is a life member of the Indian National Cartographic Association.
She has written a book, ‘Media Dynamics – A Comprehensive Textbook’.
